I was just wondering how fast can some of you guys brighten aluminum wheels that are very dirty?

I don't mean just dusty, a little bit of dirt and junk but where the wheels are darkened or maybe even black so it is a challenge.

Are we talking 10 seconds?  30 seconds?   1 minute or longer?

I have seen some videos on youtube, anyone have some there showing how fast you can brighten some wheels?

Maybe we should have a contest to see who can brighten a wheel the fastest?

It would have to show the wheel up close, maybe a finger wiping to show that it is not just dirt but a darkened wheel and then up close when done.

Not asking your secret techniques so don't worry about your competition finding out, just would like to see how fast some of you can brighten wheels.

It will all depend upon the potency of each's acid and the ratio it is applied at IMO

I'd say if I wasted more than 10 seconds on a wheel i'd be surprised.  I'd spray it quickly and come back to it again if needed.  It also completely depends on the acid you are using.  I have one acid that is next to useless while another will eat the wheel for lunch if I let it!!

Have any videos?  That would be cool to see the wheels brighten that fast.

Is your brightner foaming up any when you apply it to the wheel or tank Chris, by foam i mean similar to peroxide on an open wound.

This is a very good description of how Aluminum Brightner, when applied correctly looks, when it is reacting with aluminum.  You don't mind if I use it do you Chris?

It dont take any time at all if you have a good acid.  We made a video of cleaning a tank and it took 30 seconds or so.  Washing normally we would be done in half that time.  For our videos purposes and placing subtitles we went little slower and used excessive amounts of chemicals.  Like Chris stated, if it doesnt foam up, you might want to look for a different acid if a faster speed is what you are looking for.

Got any videos Hal?

I wish I had some to show, can't because of the contract but I can say that my process is slow, probably the weak acid locally and from another local distributor.

Depends if it has a foaming agent in it or not but generally you are correct.

Whether it has surfactant in it or not doesnt dictate the foam.Foam comes from a chemical reaction the hf meets the aluminum at a high concentrate.Thats were the foam comes in at.Np-9 is the only surfactant in mine foam and surfactant are not the same surfactant is sticking to the surface long enough for the product to work.Foam is a chemical reaction between hf and aluminum.
